B. Whitmore

June 8, 1912 — July 10, 2008

Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin, formerly Moline, Illinois
Evelyn B. Whitmore, 96, formerly of Moline, Illinois, left this earth to rejoin her beloved husband of 50 years, Richard Whitmore, and daughter, Suzanne Palmer, on Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
Sevices are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Our Home K-Care of Minocqua, Wisconsin.
The former Evelyn Bernice Bambrick was born June 8, 1912, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Nellie (Robinson) Bambrick. It was there that she met Dick, the love of her life. High school sweethearts, Evelyn and Dick performed in many high school plays together and later married on June 28, 1934. Evelyn was a dedicated wife and mother raising a wonderful family of three daughters, making Moline, Illinois, their home for many years.
In later life, she moved to Minocqua, Wisconsin, where she could be closer to family. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Moline for over 60 years, where she and Dick served as youth counselors and sang in the choir as members and soloists. She was an active volunteer in many women's service organizations including the P.E.O., and the King's Daughters. Evelyn loved to sew and also belonged to a women's quilting club in Milan where many handmade quilts were lovingly made for those in need. She loved to laugh and was always surrounded by friends.
She had an appreciation for life and never ceased to be grateful for the simple things, like the colors of an autumn leaf, or the glimpse of a blue jay out her window. She loved to spend time with her daughters just talking and never missed an opportunity to tell everyone how lucky she was. "I'm still kicking, just not as high!" was one of her favorite sayings. Her warmth and easy going nature will be missed by many.
Evelyn is survived and will be greatly missed by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia (Silver) and Jerry Rexroade of Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, and Diana (DeDe) and Chip Leetch of Buford, Georgia; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear husband Richard, a daughter, Suzanne Palmer, and brothers, Ray and James Bambrick.
