Moline, Illinois August T. " Augie" Nelson, 82, of Moline, IL, died August 11, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, IL. Services are 10:30 Saturday, at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:30 Saturday, prior to the service. Entombment will be in the Moline Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be given to the Amber Ridge Alzheimer's Fundraiser. August Thorval Nelson was born June 30, 1922 in Geddes, SD, the son of August and Ellen (Engiseth) Nelson. He married Vera Buhler on September 25, 1946 in Mitchell, SD. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1995. Augie was employed as a maintenance supervisor for Eagle Foods, Milan, IL, troubleshooting and setting up refrigeration units in its grocery stores. Later he was employed as a design engineer for John Deere in Moline for over twenty years. After leaving Deere, he purchased Technical Enterprises in Moline, a company that balances commercial heating and cooling systems throughout the Midwest. Mr. Nelson was a disabled veteran and received the purple heart for his service as a Army Paratrooper in the European Theater during WW II. Among Augie's interest's and hobbies he enjoyed solving engineering problems, baseball, visiting with friends and family, and telling old stories. Augie was truly blessed to have been able to spend his last year at Amber Ridge Assisted Living in Moline. He appreciated all the great care he received and loved all the caregivers there. His survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-laws, Dr. Richard and Marguerite Nelson of Moline, IL, Randy and Kathie Nelson of Moline, IL, and David Nelson of Eldridge, IA, three grandsons, Sean, Jonathan, and Jeffrey Nelson, four sisters, Aileen Petrick of Nebraska, Dorothy McReynolds of Colorado, Katherine Doty of Oskaloosa, IA, and Bernice Flougere of Benson, AZ, two brothers, Donald Nelson of Grand Ledge, MI, and Franklin Nelson, of Tucson, AZ.
