Arleigh K. Hohenboken

Moline, Illinois Services for Arleigh K. Hohenboken, 94, formerly of Moline and Geneseo, are 11 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline, Shriner's Children's Hospitals, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Mr. Hohenboken died Monday, July 5, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Arleigh Kermit Hohenboken was born June 17, 1910, in Edford Township, Henry County, Illinois, the son of George Henry and Martha (Goetz) Hohenboken. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1932, and married Mabel Kirkpatrick on June 29, 1933, in Muscatine, Iowa. She died June 11, 2001. He farmed his own farm in Edford Township his entire life until retiring in 1976, when he and Mabel moved to the Quad Cities. He was one of the founders of the Bank of Silvis in 1950, and remained on the Board of Directors for many years. He helped to organize and was the first president of the Henry County Livestock Feeders Association, was a member of the President's Council of the University of Illinois, and a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, Stewart Lodge #92, AF & AM, Geneseo, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, Mohammed Shrine Temple, Peoria, and Short Hills Country Club, East Moline. Arleigh is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Lynda Hohenboken of Corvallis, Oregon; a daughter-in-law, Shona Robinson of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia; and three grandchildren, Steven Hohenboken of Portland, Oregon, and Angus Hohenboken and Emily Hohenboken of Hobart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, and two sons, Jay T. "Tommy" Hohenboken and George T. "Tim" Hohenboken.
