Patricia Ann McLean, 69, of Moline, Illinois, long-time Baptist Missionary, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Private interment is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pat McLean Peruvian Memorial Fund.
Pat was born March 17, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Revis (Noah) and William Norman McLean. She graduated from Moline High School in 1956, and from the Missions Program at Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, in 1960. She received a BA degree in Bible and Missions from Baptist Bible College in 1988.
Pat was approved for Missionary Service by the Baptist Bible Fellowship in 1968, and arrived in Lima, Peru, on December 15, 1970, as one of the first single woman missionaries for the Baptist Bible Fellowship. She retired in 2001 after 31 years of missionary service in Peru. Her ministry in Lima included work with the National Bible Baptist College, where she taught adult classes in music, typing, church secretary, Sunday school teaching, pedagogy and visual aids, and with Local Church Support through which she served in six different national churches. Her special love was music and she directed special choral groups and church choirs. She developed and organized a ministry program for the national Pastors? Wives.
Pat is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Kay McLean of Dahinda, Illinois, and Larry and Patricia McLean of Moline; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Zane Norman McLean of Arvada, Colorado, Nancy and Steve Engel of Golden, Colorado, Susannah and Brian Lane of Lexington, Kentucky, Kari and Don Proft of Vernon Hills, Illinois, Seth and Sara McLean of Rock Island, Aaron McLean of Lakewood, Colorado, and Tara McLean of Moline; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
