Alejandro ?Alex? Ramos, 66, of Moline, died Monday, January 2, 2006, in his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the family.
Alex was born April 24, 1939, in Los Indios, Texas, to Dionicio and Margarita
(Longoria) Ramos, He was employed for 29 years by Export Packaging, now known as X-pac. He also was a flea market dealer for 18 years and enjoyed yard sales and auctions. He married Barbara Hilligoss on August 6, 1977, in Rock Island. During their 28 years of marriage (but being together 33 years), they shared a daughter Monica, a son Roberto Ramos, and three grandchildren.
Surviving sisters are Lupe Campos, Irma Garcia, Rosa Ramirez, Elida Garcia, Yolanda Quirino, and Arcelia Ramos. Surviving brothers are Efrain Ramos, Alfredo Ramos, Armando Ramos, Elezar Ramos and Pablo Ramos. He was proceeded in death by 5 brothers and 5 sisters. He is also survived by his step-mother, Elida Ramos, a special friend whom he loved like a brother Gary Wates of Moline, and a special cousin, Brad Hilligoss of Coal valley.
The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the pathway hospice nurses and staff, and also to his nephew Fernando Ramos who led him to the Lord for all his comforting words and prayers, and for helping us all keep our faith strong. Thank you to "Casa De Oracion" for their kindness and prayers. Special thank you to Gary Wates and Brad Hilligoss for all their help and comforting they gave the family during this hard time.
Also his two dogs, Sheba and Lobo, whom he enjoyed very much; while he was outside in his garden they were right by him. He enjoyed helping others and this gave him happiness. If he shared his tomatoes with you he was happy. He is now tending his garden with the Lord .
