Georgia A, Zwicker, 87, of Sherrard, Illinois, died Friday, October 1, 2010, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the Preemption United Methodist Church, Preemption, Illinois. Burial is in Preemption Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the church or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
The former Georgia Agnes Pease was born February 22, 1923, in Viola, Illinois, the daughter of LeRoy and Bessie Fisher Pease, and graduated from Viola High School. She married Wilbur W. Zwicker on February 14, 1943, in Viola. He died March 29, 1996. The couple farmed in Preemption Township, Mercer County, for 50 years.
She was a dedicated member of Preemption United Methodist Church since 1943, and was active in many church areas, including the choir, Walk to Emmaus, Bible study, and church suppers. She especially enjoyed the fellowship of church members. Her family was the center of her life. She was an encourager, not only to her family, but to many friends and church people. She loved music and liked to entertain people in her home, cooking and baking for them, and making it a special time for everyone.
Georgia is survived by four children and their spouses, Roger and Virginia Zwicker of Arlington, Texas, Steven and Mary Anita Zwicker of Bradford, Illinois, Brian and Leigh Zwicker of Bow, Washington, and Robin and Todd Minor of Bridgeport, Texas; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Ivy Zwicker, Ginger and Greg Bailey, Cheryl Zwicker, Emily and Rob Sharkey, Jason Zwicker, Carrie and William Floyd, Correna Ramey, Jeremy Ramey, Jacob Battenfield, and Jamie Battenfield; and six great-grandchildren, William, Anita, Eian and Steven Sharkey, Harper Bailey, and Payton Floyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Gilbert Pease, and a sister, Gladys Doak.
