Irene P. Saddler, 104, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, May 23, 2011, in Bettendorf Health Care Center, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline.
The former Irene Pearl Ohlsen was born June 22, 1906, in Delmar, Iowa, the daughter of Hans Miller Ohlsen and Lena Pearl Bailey Ohlsen. She married Dave M. Saddler on July 25, 1923, in Moline. He died April 25, 1965. She was a receptionist at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
Irene was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church for many years. She was the Church?s Official Greeter for over 40 years, and served in the church?s United Methodist Women as circle chairman, local church chairman, and bazaar chairman twice. She was treasurer of Westwood Terrace Social Club and a member of King?s Daughters. She enjoyed sewing and baking, and was well-known for her apricot coffee cakes.
Irene is survived by three grandchildren and their spouses, Diane Thompson of Turlock, California, Chris and Rick Wohlwend of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Craig and Trudy Watson of Moline; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; two daughters, Lois Ballegeer and Elsie Watson; sisters, Florence Larson, Nora Murray, and Viola Coon; and brothers LaVern and Harold Ohlsen.
