William A. ?Bill? Hermann, 86, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in Alfredo Gonzales Texas State Veterans Home, McAllen, Texas
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, in Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island. Interment will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, by 1:45 p.m.
William Albert Hermann was born October 10, 1921, in Rock Island, the son of Albert and Grace (Graves) Hermann. He graduated from Illinois College, Jacksonville. He married Betty J. Tendick on March 23, 1947, in Jacksonville. She died August 17, 1992. He married Barbara Granaman on July 10, 1993, in Sperry, Iowa.
Bill was employed in engineering and technical publications at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island, Moline American Legion Post #246, and Moline Elks Lodge #556, and was a former member of Amvets and VFW. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and cards.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children and their spouses, Larry and Janet Hermann of Moline and Lisa and Jack Mellinger of Kokomo, Indiana; a stepdaughter and her husband, Sheila and Sam Schnedler of Sperry, Iowa; a grandson, Benjamin Hermann of Moline; two step-granddaughters and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Williams, and a brother, Robert Hermann.
