Bernice M. Wilson, 102, of East Moline, Illinois, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Bernice Marjorie Johnson was born February 7, 1909, in Moline, the daughter of Otto and Jennie Benson Johnson. She married Oscar Ney Wilson on May 5, 1934, in Moline. He died February 16, 2003. She and her husband owned and operated the former Ryttel and Wilson Jewelry Store in Davenport, Iowa, for many years, retiring in 1994. She worked in the Accounting Department at John Deere prior to her marriage.
Bernice was a life-long member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, and was active in United Methodist Women and King?s Daughters. She traveled all over the world with her husband, played bridge until she was 101, drove her car until she was 98, and loved socializing and spending time with her family and friends.
Bernice is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Frederick Humphrey of Moline; a son-in-law, Larry House of Litchfield, New Hampshire; two granddaughters and their husbands, JoAnn and Michael Newberg and Jill and Guillermo Valdes; and seven great-grandchildren, Blake and Brett Newberg, Alexa and Kalli Harris, and Emme, Baylee and Devon Valdes. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter Karen House; a sister, Florence Mongerson; and brothers, Howard, C. Cal, Ellsworth, and Wallace Johnson.
