She was a gold jacket member of Century 21 Real Estate and enjoyed working with people of all ages. She later went back to college to teach children of special needs. Volunteering was an important part of her life, and included Boy Scouts, PTA, running for public office, and church. She was very involved with the Danville Library, serving on the board for several years and helping it become a public library with non-profit status.

In her later years, she and her husband resided at the DeMarlie Family Farm in Reynolds, Illinois, before returning to Danville.
