Guadalupe M. Arellanos, 78, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in Hope Creek Care Center, Moline.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, with Monsignor Dale Wellman officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Migrant Council.

The former Guadalupe Martinez was born February 22, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Isidoro and Anita (Coronado) Martinez. She married Ricardo Rey Arellanos on August 18, 1957, in Laredo, Texas.

She worked as a migrant worker, a teacher’s aid for Blackhawk Adult Learning Center, for Project NOW, and for Adolph’s Tacos in Moline. She was active in the Illinois Migrant Council, and enjoyed crocheting, puzzle books, and was an avid movie-watcher.

Guadalupe is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Ricardo; children, Juanita Arellanos of Moline, Maria Fickes and her husband, Jeffrey, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Ricardo Arellanos of Moline; grandchildren and their spouses, Julie and Bill Brisch of Walled Lake, Michigan, Erin and Jimmey Fogolini of Westland, Michigan, Christina and Chad Jaber of Livonia, Michigan, and Kirstin Prunchak of Davenport, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Alexa Jaber, and Braden Brisch; brothers, Isabel, Vicente, Primitivo, and Jesus Martinez; a sister, Celestina Keller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by brothers, Benito Martinez and Narciso Vasquez.
