Yrsa E. Hannan, 96, formerly of East Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010, in Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, September7, 2010, in First Congregational Church, Moline, with The Reverend Allen Mothershed officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Yrsa Elise Thomsen was born August 5, 1914, in Ribe, Denmark, the daughter of Alfred and Agathe Frnadsen Thomsen. She graduated from Rock Island High School. She married William Jay Hannan, Sr., on November 7, 1935, in Rock Island. He died January 25, 2003. She was a secretary at J. I. Case Company, Bettendorf, Iowa, for 14 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, and had previously been active in PTA and the Rock Island Arsenal Officers Club. She enjoyed china painting and loved spending time with her family.
Yrsa is survived by her daughter, Joan Hannan of Moline; three grandchildren, Robin Garlem of Moline, Deborah Rosenblum of Honolulu, Hawaii, and W. David Rosenblum of Washington, DC; six grandchildren, Erica and Cynthia Garlem, Christina Manley, and Byron, Brandon, and Alicia Fuller; and a brother, Hans Thomsen of East Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William Jay Hannan, Jr.; a brother, Henning Thomsen, and a sister, Ruth Lillian Wisley.
