East Moline, Illinois

Virginia Ann Mutziger, 70, of East Moline, Illinois, peacefully passed Friday with her husband Steve by her side, January 29, 2010, at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Visitation is Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Celebration of Life Chapel, Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline followed by services in the Life Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 311 North Logan, Colorado Springs, CO 80959 in the honor of her great niece Carly Blake Yocam of Kim, Colorado.

Virginia Ann Curtis was born February 7, 1939, in Cañon City, Colorado, the daughter of Matthew Arthur and Yula Rosell Murcray Curtis. Ginny married John S. “Steve” Mutziger on December 22, 1955, in Cañon City. She loved being a member of the East Moline Newcomer’s Club and five bridge groups, where she developed many lasting friendships. Ginny enjoyed playing the piano and organ, sewing and needlework. She and her husband were avid boaters on the Mississippi River for 30 years. Ginny and Steve also shared many memorable experiences on cruise ship voyages. Ginny’s proudest achievement was “raising good children.”

Ginny is survived by her husband, Steve; two children and their spouses, Susan and Reverend Joseph Mlaker of Eagle River, Wisconsin, and Andrew and Jeanné Mutziger of Santa Margarita, California; three grandchildren, Kathy Jicinsky and her husband Brian, Jeremy Mlaker, and Aaron Mlaker; three step-grandchildren, Caitlin Galloway, Brent Galloway, and Kelly Richardson; her sister Marion Werner of Cañon City, her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Joe Barker of Las Vegas, Nevada, her brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Michelle Curtis of Cañon City; and her brother-in-law William Koch of Cañon City. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Mildred Aretta Curtis and Nadiene Koch. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
