Harold Salmonson, 90, of East Moline, Illinois, died Friday, February 12, 2010, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Gary Wright officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, East Moline, where he was a member.

Harold Reuben Salmonson was born July 13, 1919, in Hampton Township, the son of Fred C. and Elizabeth (Gerhardt) Salmonson. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.

Harold worked in the John Deere for over 41 years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf, both as a spectator and a participant.

Harold is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Reuben and Molly Salmonson of East Moline, Donald and Beverly Salmonson of Moline, Marvin and Betty Salmonson of Silvis, and Lee Salmonson of East Moline, a brother-in-law, Victor Steiner of Moline, a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Salmonson of Moline, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, William, and Fred Salmonson, Jr., and a sister, Alice Steiner.
