Services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, Moline, with The Reverend Allen Mothershed officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Karen loved flowers, but those who wish may make a memorial donation to First Congregational Church or to Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley.

The former Karen Louise Goldsmith was born September 29, 1951, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of John Warren and Kathryn Fark Goldsmith. She graduated from Oblong Township High School, received her AA from Southern Illinois University, and her BA from Western Illinois University. She was office administrator for her husband at Koenig Law Firm in Rock Island, and had previously worked at Montgomery Kone Elevator Company and Staack Florist.

Karen was an active member of First Congregational Church, where she chaired the Peterson Scholarship Committee, and served on the Church Life and Growth and Personnel Committees. She was a member of Chapter BL of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Carolyn Getz Circle of King’s Daughters, Junior Service League, and the American Society of Interior Designers. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and enjoyed decorating her home, playing bridge, watching the Chicago Bears, and spreading goodness and joy in the world.

Karen is survived by her husband Phil; her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Joella Koenig of Moline; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Michael Anderson of Evanston, Illinois; three grandsons, Joseph, John, and Justin Koenig; an anticipated granddaughter, Gwen Anderson, due March 10, 2012; and her mother, Kathryn L.
