Ann Lewis Hess, 89, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, August 20, 2010, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, Illinois.

Private family services will be held. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation.

The former Antionette Bernadine Spiess was born January 16, 1921, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary Abeln Spiess. She married Raymond Lewis in 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died in 1967. She married Leslie Hess in 1974, in Silvis, Illinois. He died in 1997. She owned the Poplar Motel in Silvis for 11 years, retiring in 1974, and previously worked at Carlson Brothers in Moline. She enjoyed traveling, having visited seven countries, partying and shopping.

Ann is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Doug Jacquin of Coal Valley; three grandchildren and their spouses, Tori Jacquin of Coal Valley, Todd and Deb Jacquin of Moline, and Trent and Dannette Jacquin of Orion, Illinois; two special grandchildren, Joshua Jacquin and Katlin Jacquin; step-children, Lynn Lange of Orion, Laurel and Joe Pollentier of Pekin, Illinois, Bonnie and Jeff Schilling of Galva, Illinois, Gene Hess, Gordon Hess, and Kenny Hess; numerous step-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Spiess of Davenport, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, four brothers, and three sisters.
